Collapsible Micromobility Helmets
A Cameron-Price Case Study
The use of bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters has exploded in popularity over recent years in the UK. E-scooters and e-bikes – as the names suggest – utilise electricity to power movement and, as such, are examples of sustainable transport. Whilst protecting the planet, it is also essential that users of these modes of transportation are protected with personal safety equipment that safeguards their wellbeing.

With this sustainability and safety in mind, Cameron-Price were tasked with bringing a micromobility helmet to market. This full-scope delivery included every facet of the product journey, including:
The result of this project was a remarkable journey from initial drawing to product launch (with approved stock in hand) within just 20 weeks.
The finished helmet was designed and manufactured in such a way that it is able to be easily folded so that it takes up much less space than traditional safety equipment.
This unique functionality means that this revolutionary, foldable helmet is perfectly positioned to encourage more people to join the mobility revolution.
Another unique feature of the finalised helmet was the optional integrated and market-leading RFID technology. This solution made the helmet an affordable product for multiple users – further promoting its adoption within e-scooter riders.
Furthermore, if personal safety equipment is easier to carry around – as a result of its foldability – then it is more likely to be worn.
For example, if carrying around a helmet is made as hassle-free as possible, then people will have less reason not to wear one when travelling around. If you know your helmet can easily fit into your bag when you arrive at work then you know you don’t have to think about storing it somewhere in the office all day.
It may sound trivial, but reducing the barriers and resistance to wearing personal safety equipment is absolutely essential in promoting their application.
This subtle encouragement has the potential to greatly reduce the severity of injuries experienced by e-scooter users if they are unfortunate enough to be involved in a collision, and could even save lives!
